Wow, sometimes it is very difficult to determine the original question!

First of all, are we to assume that there are three children in your health plan?

Secondly, what is your annual deductible? Raising the deductible on your plan can decrease your premium significantly. (Example: From $500 deductible to $2,500 deductible.)

What is your "annual out-of-pocket maximum"?

Do you have prescription drug coverage and is there a deductible?

Is dental insurance included?

You must understand that there is much more involved in purchasing health insurance than just price.

The "health insurance alternative" mentioned here is AmeriPlan and it is a discounted fee for service type health plan. It is not health insurance.
This plan is good for someone who may be uninsurable or on a very tight budget.

Just be very careful in switching health insurance plans and don't get caught in the pre-existing trap or a situation where a health condition will never be covered.

I can see from your post just how much is involved in a health care plan. I don't think I relized it though until you spelled it out.

There is alot in the development of rating the health insurance plan you have. If you are on an employer group plan you may also be rated up if the group is older or has health conditions. I would look to an independent health insurance agent representing multiple companies. Many of the health insurnace companies today can prescreen you for conditions before you even apply. Just make sure like others have said do not cancel existing plan until you have notification of acceptance from the new plan you may move to.

AmeriPlan is an alternative and not insurance. AmeriPlan is great for those who can't get health insurance, qualify, or afford it etc.

It's a nice supplement to have no matter what your situation may be. It's worth looking to. There's no paperwork, no insurance companies to deal with. Toll-free number to locate independent and chain-participating network providers. No waiting period before you can use the Program. No limits to the number of visits.
