My car was hit by a driver just after crossing the signal. It was the fault of that car as that car violated the signal and hit my car from left and ran away. I was not able to report the case to the police as I was puzzled at that situation. I reported this to my insurance company. After few days they denied me the total loss. In this situation could anyone tell me what should I do.

First you had to file this up to the police. Well anyway for the insurance claim you can value your car on your own and then act accordingly. This can be done by comparing with the similar vehicles(almost in the same condition) available in the market so that the coverage can be realized. Besides you can consult to your agent or a strong lawyer. Also there is state insurance department to guide you.
Thanks.

The purpose of the Police report is to enable your insurers prevent any law suite against them in the future. This is the reason as to why they can never settle your claim. Go to the police and report the matter, get the police abstract and return to your insurers.

However, go through your policy document and check on your accidental excess applicable. It should be indicated. Should the estimated repair cost be below the excess, do not bother. Simply have your vehicle repaired by you.

If i were you, i would change my insurance company as they should be compitent enough to assist you in such eventualities. They should have at least let you know why they cannot settle your claim. It beats the logic of having insurance!

well, what are you thinking of?
just go to the police and explain them the whole scenario..
i hope they will understand and try to chase down the culprit...
if you had noticed the car's number then it's better for you
best of luck

do one more thing...
try to explain things to the insurance company and solve out the matter....
they can't deny insurance

I think you can still call the police and report it. Was there any witnesses to the event, if so you will want to get their statements also, why would you not call the police after the person hit and ran you? I am just curious, How long after the accident did you call your insurance company? Hopefully it is not too late to file a police report, give it a shot, ask the police to seek witness's for you, maybe somebody else seen it and could talk on your behalf, did you have anyone else in the car with you? I feel for you, but as soon as the person left the scene, it made it a reportable accident, hit and run is illegal, they did not even care if you were hurt or not. Call the police, I think you should be okay to still file the report, hopefully there will be car parts at the scene. Was your car a total loss? How did you get it away from the scene? You mention total loss that is why I am asking?
