I asked my hubby and he said the rings and stuff are covered at the store if a rock or anything falls out but if anything else happens he isn't sure only that homeowners covers so much. Now do you get these coverages right at the jewelry store or through home owners insurance itself?
I know what you mean about the jewelry thing...between that and flowers. Sometimes it does get to be the same old, same old. |

an inland marine can be purchased from the same agent you bought your ho policy from.... | Quote: | | know what you mean about the jewelry thing...between that and flowers. The "policy" at the store is just like you said; for cleaning, inspection, if a rock falls out, etc. Your HO policy will cover loss, theft, etc.
Same old, same old? Really? I buy my wife jewelry all the time - she never gets tired of it.

So does that mean an inland marine policy is an expensive one? I have quite some pieces of jewelry which I had never thought of insuring. After I came across this forum I guess I should get in touch with my insurance agent. But what would I get coverage for? Theft? Loss of jewelry or any kind of damage? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

The inland marine I have is all risk...check with your agent...minimally you would not have the limit for theft etc that you would have on your ho policy...personally I think it's pretty cheap, considering it's all risk _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. The Inland Marine Policies are not really very expensive….i know that the name might have suggested you that, but its not really so. However, the cost of the coverage may also depend upon the type of coverage you opt for and also upon the worth of the items covered.
The inland marine policy might be available with your insurance agent, hence, checking out with him won't hurt.
Thanks,

| I am going to check. Thats sure a funny name for a policy "inland Marine". How did they come up with that? I wish I would have known you could have insured jewelry on its own policy before I had my mothers ring stolen a few years back. It wasn't worht turning in to homeowners because of my deductible. |

You should be able to get an add-on to your HO policy for your jewelry. Your insurance company will want a current appraisal and pictures. _________________ Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. - Ferris Bueller |

remember though usually with adding it to your HO you are not adding any perils...only increasing the limit...on limited perils. _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. | Ok so I should just see about the other policy. I have a lot on my plate at this moment with some family health problems and my own insurance nightmare so with my stree level being at an all time high I will look into this after I get through a couple rough patches here at home. Thanks. |
