Is it possible!!
My daughter has managed a couple of shrubs and plants from a neighboring friend. It is palatable, though a bit costly for me to maintain things properly..do I get any help from the homeowners cover?

Yes, homeowners insurance would cover you for the damages caused to your plants, trees, shrubs etc. But, remember this coverage could come to you through varying shapes under a variety of policies. again, the extent to which you would be covered might again differ between such policies. Now, I may rest assured that you'd move towards a wise decision.

Hi, IMO you must check out with the homeowners insurance provider for endorsements to cover expensive plants and shrubs in your yard. Home insurance providers, usually, provide the homeowners with coverage that covers damages to the trees, plants and landscaping, but the coverage may have a very low limit. Hence, to protect the expensive trees upto their worth you may need to attach a rider policy to your homeowners plan.

Most insurers often have per-item limit as well as per-incident limit with the maximum payout of $250 and $1,000 for per-item and pre-incident respectively. However, you may receive higher limit of $5, 00 for pre-item loss and upto 5% of the insurance value for the per-incident loss depending upon the policy offered by your insurer.

I'd agree with agree with Jeremy, an endorsement, however, may help you to protect the items upto their values.

Yes Jeremy, homeowners carriers would often provide you with landscaping endorsements. These endorsements are actually meant to enhance the extent of coverage. That's why carriers would often attach such endorsements with the standard policies. What you don't need to forget is that this additional coverage would only come to you for an extra price.

Hey I've heard that some homeowners policy may offer coverage for removing uprooted trees after storms?

Yup you have heard it right :D some insurers do offer coverage for removing fallen trees form the yard of the policy holders. However, it may be subject to deductible depending upon your policy verbiage. Hence, you may need to get things clarified by the agent before signing the policy document.

What do you mean Plastic

do I get any help from the homeowners cover?

You mean coverage right? the basic HO policy will provide coverage for certain perils only...if they just die due to disease, drought whatever then no...if a storm ripps them up then yes, but as mentioned there is a limit...they are only covered for certain perils...also re: 'uprooting trees' the standard policy covers debris removal, many policys this is a reimbursment coverage as well..again, if it dies and falls over no coverage.

I can't imagine HO covering plants if they die. If that was the case everyone who forgot to properly care for a plant would be calling their home owners. I know a lot of places aroung here the actual store itself will cover the plant up to a year.

I will echo Lori on this one. This coverage is extra (endorsement) and only applies to something happening due to storm, vandalism, etc.

If you don't water it and it does...S.O.L.

Sounds like that would be the way they do it. Just can not imagine covering a plant unless it happened this way.
