Those programs are going on all over the place, they provide much needed supplies for the kids to start school.

The tax may also be on property I just can't remember right now.It seems to be on most everything . Open house at school has a drawing for a book bag and supplies. They give every one who come a notebook and pencil. They used to have a big open House where they gave away prizes and supplies and thing but I think they quit. You are mostly on your own here with the school supplies and they seem to want a lot of them in the lower grades. The higher up you go the cheaper it gets. Those calculator are what gets me.They are very expensive!

God, if they are taxing everything, you guys should not have to pay anything for school supplies, they are making out like bandits, they get money from the state too right?

Just out of curiosity what is the staff paid in your school districts? Teachers? Superintendent? etc, etc. I would be checking into all of this if they are taxing you on everything, you have a right to know, it should be public record. Somebody would be answering some questions.

I was thinking that hummingbird could check around in her community and see who is willing to sponsor the back to school program. Maybe a store, an employer, a church or a human service agency. It is worth a shot, if they don't have one there already.

Sounds like a good idea, is this something that you would pursue hummingbird or do you know some one influential in the community that could possibly get this started for you.

No, I won't bother. The schools here are run by the PTO.They are the ones who run all the fund raisers and say where the money goes. If I don't feel the need to buy something I just don't buy it.I have not paid room fees in years I just quit paying it.My daughetr wanted to be in band last year and i didn't have the 35 dollars it cost for her to be in it. probly had to buy the instrument anyway. This year we did manage to pay 35 for her to be in Archery. That only last Nov till Xmas break. If you were good enough you were selected to be on the team. All she did was go to practices once sometimes 2 times a week during that time.

Yeah, I knew, it says it in one of the threads somewhere, I am not sure what thread but it is there some where, it may even be in the marathon guidelines, not sure, but I know I read it somewhere.

I did not know that either, of course I don't really post enough to even worry about the Ipod, not that I would not mind winning one.

I have a hard time keeping up, not enough time, so i just come on from time to time depending on the conversation. I go to the credit and debt forum and post a little here and there also. Good mixture of subjects when you visit all three, LOL. Problem is it takes a long time to get anywhere when you are visiting three. Sometimes I will go on and read and not comment at all. So it depends on what they are talking about.

Right now, I am keeping up with the election and the economic stimulus money through the forums, LOL. I am waiting on some money there, so I will keep an eye on it.

Wondering how long it takes.need some gas money my kids keep my car going all the time.I post on all the forum.I get the comments oin my email so I just use it that way.I clicl the ones in my email sometimes I add a comment sometimes not. Sometimes I go in the forum and see if any new topics have been added that interest me.I was close second to Lori once when I first started ,for the ipod .But I lost steam and she passed me by. I am not as informed as her about the insurance, so she can talk turkey and I can't ...lol Right Lori?
