Finally saw this and figured it out

by InsTeacher » Thu May 14, 2009 06:11 am

There's no apparent reason for this post, I just want to see what kind of reaction I get. Since it's the pub, let's see if anyone comments.

I just edited a post and earned 2/100 of one cent. That means I would have to do that 50 times to earn one penney. Let's get rich. In order to earn $1, I would have to do that 5000 times. To earn $20, it would require 100,000 edits of the same size. Let's do my car payment- 1,800,000 changes. How 'bout the monthly mortgage? 6,750,000 Let's look at paying that sucker off: 750,000,000 edits. Finally, how about we see if my calculator can can figure out a way to pay off the outstanding national debt (currently around $11 trillion   ) 55,000,000,000,000,000. That's 55 quintillion edits. I had to go get my kid's fancy cost me a months salary calculator for that one. :)

To end this absolutely ridiculous waste of cyber-space, here's my last number, ok...numbers. I figure it takes me about 20 seconds to make the edit. If you factor in the above numbers, and I went non-stop, here's how long it would take to do all of them:

To earn:

A penny- 16.66 minutes
A dollar- 27.77 hours
$20- 555.55 hours/23.41 days
Car payment: 10,000 hours/416.66 days
Mortgage: 37,500 days/104.16 years
Mtge pay off: 11,415.55 years/1, 141.44 decades/114.14 CENTURIES
Nat'l debt: 351,000 MILLENIA (that's a thousand years/millenium)

So, in conclusion: I have figured out a way to pay off my car within my lifetime using AmPm. Lastly, I was really bored.

You surely were

However, Teacher I think the calculation is little different with the new members. They make money more quickly than the old ones. I actually have seen my pay/post to drop once my post number crossed 50 posts. Well, that a long time back. Not sure if there is any change in the formula since then (never cared actually). But, its indeed a nice effort to show the nonsense posters that they can't actually get rich by posting in this board.

Thanks,
Rupert

:P Great topic/post InsTeach! 8)

I would suggest to make more money per post you need to copy and paste more content in your first post to get up to the $0.45 dollars maximum payment per post which is actually only 45 cents per post. It's not fair they cut the pay from $0.45 DOLLARS down to 45 cents but that's the way the actuaries do things...ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL.

You should edit yourself to give yourself a bonus on your own words and to clean up typos and "other" grammatical errors.

Lastly, reply often to your own posts and topics AND start a thread war so a two (2) page topic can last for 99 pages.

Also, including but not limited, also too, two, to; if your thread is Dead On Arrival (DOA) or has limit activity simply bump your thread to the top of the board!

Or and OR is it AND OR get the thread pinned to the top of the board so everyone knows it's really really really important!

Do whatever you wish..but don't forget to read the terms of use clauses that speak of forum payments. If you thought it was easy and quick...think again! :)

Rupert, you're absolutely right. However, something tells me that if a new member did 55 quintillion edits, they'd quickly reach my level of "compensation." :D

But you brought up another idea in my bored little head. Why is it that the newer members get paid at a higher level than the veterans? Lemme think... CEO speak would go something like this: "We have to pay more to the newer members to incent them to come back. Think of like a teaser rate on those pre-approved credit card offers. We'll suck them in and never let them go!!! (evil laugh)" From the expert's view: "Wait a minute...I'm an EXPERT here. Don't EXPERTS generally get paid more than ROOKIES??? (confused expression here: :? Does this place have things bass-ackward?"

It would if it were a place to make money, which it's not. I think in order to raise the membership rolls we need to incent in some manner. When in Rome...

Well said :D

You surely do worth a million time more than a rookie, ya know that  :)

I'm sure people who come with their problems don't care a darn about how much they would make from posting here, what they need is solution. And, since we offer them that, we should be paid more. But, we don't exactly post here to get rich, do we?

Rupert

I want some of what Teach is drinking or snorting!!!!!

But now that you've brought it up, I'm a "Consultant" and I get paid less than the "Guests", go figure!!! Consultants usually get paid very well.

In the last year, no one has needed my consultation, I guess, at least no one has asked for my opinion or ideas on anything. 8)

Teach, if I wanted to replace my income and let's use $100,000, how many posts would I have to make on a daily basis???

Insurance Maze,

you need to post at least 1826 posts on daily basis for 365 days with two line answers in order to come to the final figure of 1,00000 US $ per annum.

It takes minimum 5 minutes to answer any thread.Guess how much time you will require to post 1826 replies .I guess there are hardly 50 new threads on ampminsure on daily basis
