I was arrested in 1998 (19 years old at time) for bad checks. I remember going to the police station and being fingerprinted and my aunt paided the amount and abt 1 hr later i was home. Im currently pursuing my ga insurance agents licence. Can this conviction prevent me from being licensed?

It actually depends on the State laws. The applications even take a longer time to process, since a lot of time is spent for checking the conviction history.
In most of the cases, a fraud conviction results in disqualification.

While state law exists, it's actually federal law that will likely prevent licensure. United States Civil Code states that "any person who has been convicted of any felony involving dishonesty, a breach of trust or a violation of the civil Act is a 'prohibited person' and can be fined or imprisoned up to five years unless he has written consent (a waiver) from the insurance regulatory official in their states (the Insurance Commissioner), specifying that it is granted for the purpose of satisfying U.S. Civil Code 18 USC section 1033."
So... the answer is "maybe." It all depends on whether your commissioner will grant the waiver. Here's a link for the waiver application... good luck on that one!
