Hi I'm fairly new in the industry. For the past year I have been thinking (coupled with a ton of research) about being an insurance agent. However, I'm quite indecisive on which route to take (assuming I can choose).

What are the risks of going independent? Must I start working for a company first before trying out the business on my own?

I understand the responsibilities that come along with it, but I just want a fresh opinion from experienced people. I'd really appreciate it.
