insurance industry

I have tried to sell health insurance from internet leads. I was not very successful. I could not get appointments or interest. I know if I can get in front of 10 customers per week I could close 3 or maybe 4 of them. Is it that hard to get this many appointments for health insurance per week. It is with United American and they say they have more leads than agents to work them. Maybe they can provide me with better training than in the past. Is it realistic that I make at least 50,000 year doing this as a job again? I don't want to waste any time on this job if it is not going to do produce any results. Let me know what you think.

thanks
stephen

Ahh the ever ending question.....well I have done it all and I have decided that selling Life Insurane is def the most profitable....but I also know that it is the same as far as getting in front of people.

I have come to the conclusion that the more I have to offer it is easier to get in front of people so I now offer to do an annual review of their insurance needs (I am licensed for almost everything) so I look at their home, auto, health, Life, Disability and then on a good day i will close them all. On a not so good day I will close one or two of the policies that I just listed.

Another good way to get in front of people is to join networking groups or start one of your own. I have done this and had some really good response from it. www.meetup.com is the site look for groups already in your area or start one of your own. That will also give you something to talk to other people about and get in front of them. Just ask them to join your group.

You can make the money you just need to figure out how to get in front of the people. Just get involved in your community or clubs, groups whatever...as you make friends the business will follow.

Stephan,
Yes it is possible to make well over $50,000 a year in the insurance business, the key is working in multiple directions. As an agent I made well over 100K and have since moved to Agency development and marketing, however internet leads can be a good source, however most are very pricey, leads from a captive carrier tend to be old, they let new agents bite their teeth on basically cold leads that might have just been called by the same agent that quit two weeks ago. Best is to find a middle ground. My personal system comprised of buying a few leads, but at a higher price with lot's of filters just to keep the junk out as much as I could, advertising locally but not in papers, flyer's, brochures, lot's of walking and talking, introducing myself to local businesses as the "health insurance specialist" going to chamber mixers, volunteering at community events blood drives, going networking groups like BNI, cold calling chamber members just introducing them and asking for 5 minutes to see if I could save them money, and the #1 ASKING FOR REFERRALS, on everyone, even if I couldn't help them, or they said no, I'd ask about them, their business and then say "great, well if any my clients need your services I'd be glad to send them your way, now can you HELP me? ....... The way I stay in business is by referrals, can you help me out I need at least 3 and no more than 5 people that I might be able to help."
and then just wait....

By using those techniques you can be successful in almost any company.

hi,

If you are asking if it is possible for you to earn $50,000 per year, then my answer for this question my friend is yes. It is very possible that you can earn this much in this industry. Remember in this kind of business, you are entitled for an unlimited income. This is the reason why many agents become rich just by focusing in this job. Yes it is true that this kind of job is most of the time disappointing especially if you haven't made a sale. But remember my friend, you are in control of your earnings. If you want to earn more, you need to work more. If you want to earn less, then you can just work less. Your efforts would be equal to your income. But you can say that your efforts sometimes or most of the time are more that what you can earn. Don't be disappointed with this. As long as you are doing your job well, keeping in touched personally with the people that surround you and making a great reputation to the public, then you would eventually earn the income that you have dreamed of getting. It is very different when you talk personally to people than just finding some internet leads. Internet leads can be helpful, but it is very different that you can be in touch with these people. the impression is different and trust can be gained. And the last thing that you need to remember while working in this industry is self motivation. You are the only one that can motivate your self in order for you to succeed. If you are starting to lose your self confidence, then that would be the reason why you will not excel. No one can help you but only yourself. Set your goals and reach it. You can reach $50,000 as long as you believe you can. In fact, in the truest sense, you are not selling to these people, you are helping them and giving them solutions to their problems. Do your best and achieve your dreams!!

More power to you my friend!!

You should definitely be able to make 50K per year. If not something is definitely wrong and you need a metor.
