Hi Guys,

I have been with Allstate for the last score of years & reported my first claim (in connection with a hail storm damage) some time back. The worth of my claim was about $2075.00. On receipt of the premium bill, I found a letter attached to it which reflected some $500 worth of deductible had been accumulated.

It has been a lill more than 4 yrs since then that I dint bother to go through that letter, & the result is mysterious- the deductible has mounted to $2000.00. The reason they say, has been their expenses towards meeting several other claims! Greg_ok

hey..I stood under-insured with my home, when Allstate covered me upto $50,000 excluding my dwellings. It was natural for me to try & raise my coverage options towards protecting my home including the dwellings. I had a talk with their inspector (who seemed unhappy with the chimney) & removed my chimney. It was soon to be followed by a letter stating the existence of chipped paints somewhere else in my place. So I guess, this is the 'best of customer service' & the 'easiest way of enjoying benefits' that they are so proud of..ShaneW02

gr8 post I'd sincerely believe..lemme share how it was against my wish that I took a left turn & Allstate found an opportunity to play my rates by about 40%.
This was the result of my maintaining coverage with them for over 30 years within which I've never had any other ticket or penalty. I had no other option but to switch it on with the ins. commissioner.

A few words... Colossus and Mckinsey Report.

Allstate uses an injury estimating program called Colossus that dictates how much an adjuster can pay on a injury claim. It's claimed to be used as a tool but every insurance company reviews settlement amounts and "comments" on adjusters who settle for more then Colossus reports. The BI problem with the program is that it's only as good as the information put into it. It takes an expert to be able to enter all the correct information into the program (and if they are that good... they don't need the program). Also, this inaccurate information gets reported back to the company as to taint further settlements.

Mckinsey report... basically told Allstate that they could save money by following this program and not considering the actual injury. Allstate was a "little' reluctant to turn over this documentation, so much so that the Florida stopped allowing them to sell new policies in the state until they did so.

Not sure where this information fits into that outline.
