What type of insurance do you sell? Are you a new agent or experienced?

I guess the OP operates in the line of life or health insurance, because, link buying is effective when you're expecting good return from the sale. Life and health plans, normally, earn more return than the P&C policies.

Murph, you can't buy absolutely exclusive leads as all the leads sold by an online lead generation company get divided between 2 to 3 agents on an average. Also there is no guarantee that the lead hasn't submitted his/her name in any other lead generating sites.

Exclusive if you can get them. You can buy exclusive from internet lead sources, exclusive to that source, but like stated above, they may have submitted info at more than one site.

buying leads online has not proven to be successful for me and many others throughout this forum and other forums that i read. none are absolutely exclusive and many are not truly qualified leads, meaning many are not good leads. i would look to other methods of obtaining leads.

You have echoed the mood of some of my agent friends. They too keep complaining that they don't always strike luck with the online leads. The main problem remains is that you can't actually do a quality checking with these leads. Hence, the probability of getting junk leads is very high.

I did buy a few exclusives but other people were calling them. the lead company told me that the people probably filled ot online forms for other lead companies. Any advise?

I generate my own leads. I own the websites, I do the programming and the SEO. My point is that I know that no one is reselling my leads. However, a good percentage of my prospects will have quotes from other brokers.

There is no such thing as an exclusive lead, when prospective clients can get quotes from other sources in a few clicks. The best you can do is contact them quickly and try to keep them from requesting quotes from other sources after they speak with you.

Speed is important. You have to try to reach them and get quotes to them right away. You also have to do something to make them feel confident that you are the right person to do business with. Calling your prospects ASAP, but not doing a good job as a sales person won't result in a lot of sales.

Thanks, Alston
I think that I will start buying cheaper leads in bulk until I get my phone sales skills down. I am also calling up restauraunts I used to service in my previous business. I had a good relationship with them but got tired of hauling in dishwashers and cleaning supplies, it was killing my back. This is a lot easier for me physically, but I understand why you have the phone in your picture. :D
