I know greater income opportunities is one of the primary reasons why people join insurance.

I would like to explore other reasons why people choose insurance selling as a career or business.

HOPEFULLY people join the Insurance business to HELP people, not to disrespect them or just to think about making a 'quota' each month. From what I've read, on this forum, that's what SOME Insurance Agents do:..is to just to make their quota anyway (harmful) they see fit.

They certainly do. The insurance agents would help you in deciding the right coverage to protect you and your family. And, I'm sure that no one has shown disrespect to you in any account, but at the same time any member should have enough data to support his/her comment. Arguing only for the sake of it will not do any good to this community. I'm sure that the agents on this board know what they are talking about.

Further, we have to keep this in mind that selling insurance is their profession and they have to be serious about meeting their monthly 'quota'. It seems that you are prejudicing against the entire agent community. Tell me SD who would you approach if you need an insurance in the future?

Regards,
Juanita

Yes indeed.

Pejorative blanket condemnations are the result of one not being able to back up their myopic views with facts.

I'm certainly not aware of any "quota" system with any insurance company. Insurance agents earn exactly what they are worth in terms of income.

Some agents last year made $30,000 while other agents made $300,000 and there was the same 24 hours in each and every day. Both agents made exactly what they are worth.

But, Xoseph asked:

I would like to explore other reasons why people choose insurance selling as a career or business.

For me it's the freedom FROM the ever relentless corporate structure. AND of course the only limits on my income are self imposed.

The other thing is I'm interested in all things financial and of a legal nature. Selling insurance certainly has plenty of financial and legal complications that interest me. I also have a passion for exactly correct information because there is so much misinformation out there from agenda driven persons with myopic and politically motivated rhetorical non-sense.

So here I am.

I think what they are referring to with the "quota" system, as least for us on the P&C side we are expected to sell a certain amount of policies each month.
But the most important thing is the customer and doing what is right for them. Our jobs as insurance agents is to make this the top priority.
I would have to say for me as far as getting into the insurance business is to help people, I love the work and of course the money.

Thank you lisar1208!

As I've stated many times on this forum I don't even know how to spell Properly and Casually!

There are Insurance Agents who are 'in it' JUST for the 'quota'...however,...there are some who are 'in it' for the PEOPLE...BIG DIFFERENCE!!! There seems to be SOME Insurance Agents, on this forum, who are knowledgeable. However...........if 'you're' wrong about something CONCERNING insurance (pertaining to the case I'm working on), I will tell you just that. I've explained the situation I'm in ( working on a 'case') and how Life Insurance and Medical Insurance is 'applied'. If someone wants to 'debate' about it, that's their right. ..however....it's MY right to tell 'you' that you're wrong. I deal with Nationwide for my insurance needs ( they work with the people). Years ago, I went to Allstate , before i went to Nationwide. They seemed to want to 'sell' me the MOST expensive Life Insurance and Car Insurance policies...stuff i wouldn't need, etc ( THEY are for their 'quotas'). Hope you see the difference.

SD' why are you carrying over your misinformation from THIS THREAD to this thread on a totally unrelated topic?

You've been asked 6 times on THAT THREAD to provide the legal authority you are relying on that supports your understanding of HIPAA and you refuse to do so.

There are many, many, many, many, many insurance agents who read this forum and there are always many, many, many more people who read certain forums but never post. NOT ONE person has come on to verify or support what you seem to think are provisions of HIPAA.

I can readily assure you if anything I've posted regarding HIPAA was inaccurate there would be boat loads of persons to correct the error and actually point to the correct information.

Not just their opinion. I'm not sure why you even feel it necessary to continue on with your folly. You've no doubt Googled HIPAA 6 ways to Sunday yet haven't found any credible information that even remotely suggests what you claim.

Now since HIPAA is Federal Law I don't think I'm asking too much for you to provide the section of that Federal Law that supports your understanding of HIPAA especially as it relates to applications for life insurance.

It's readily available information.

Please show-me where I have my wires crossed.

Yes, this one being a global industry the earning potential seems more than other financial fields.

But it would not be right to think of insurance in the light of social welfare only. Professionals who are knowledgeable would only suffice the coverage needs of a global population. So, its just not about earning or doing good to people..its also about that extra passion to apply and add to your knowledge and expertise.
