Patience is the most important virtue of an insurance agent. When you are going to meet your first prospect, never think that you can make him your first customer. I do not want to discourage you but just wanted to tell the truth. In the insurance agent field, no agent have a conversion rate of 100% in his early years. This is the field of constant learning and your's and your seniors' past experience matters a lot.
Always keep in mind your last meeting and try to recall where were you strong and what were your weak points. Avoid the weak points and incorporate your strong points in next meeting.
Hi tusharagg, you seem to have a great deal of knowledge in the field of insurance. Are you an agent by profession?

I agree with you 100%, but some agent have forgotten their true objective of becoming an agent. They often go aggressive beyond needs and thus lose out their protective clients. Hope your advices will show them some way.
you're right that patience is VERY important. But I think that rather than patience, resilience is most critical. Any new agent is going to have to get a thick skin and keep trying even when they get the door slammed in their face over and over and over and over again. _________________ -tentel
Patience is critical. marketers know that it takes as many as 7 attempts to gain a new client. This is especially true in insurance when most people already have it and therefore have a relationship with an agent. I try to be "first in line" behind the existing agent or broker. I stay in touch and try to prove over time that I am a better choice.
Of course you need immediate sales and have to be on the lookout for shoppers. But my best clients tend to be ones that I stayed in touch with over a period of time before they decided to become my client. _________________ I am an insurance broker from Ontario licensed for all types of insurance.
