Lori2 | 2 yearss ago What if more than one beneficiary is named at the initial start of the policy. If the policy holder dies, do all get equal shares? Does status of who you were in relation to the policy holder matter (i.e., Wife as opposed to children). |

k.vessels2 | 3 yearss ago my grandmother had a whole life policy for 50,000 for 20 years she lowered less than 2 years ago to a 25,000 term life she died a month ago and the insurance company won't pay because they say it is less than 2 years old but she's had this policy for 20 years just lowered the policy. Any adivice thanks |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago There was no policy. Just a beneficiary paper. If there is a policy it would be a group policy through my son's place of employment. I had no idea this had an accidental clause on it until this past week. My son died in Dec, I never found out there wasn't a signature until the end on April when I called the insurance Co wondering why they weren't paying.I called his place of employment this week and ask for all the paper work that goes with the beneficiary paper and they sent me the amount it was for with the accidental clause. No other papers went with this paper. |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago Thanks for the information. I don't really think my son was notified of this error. The women that takes care of this wasn't happy with me when I asked who's mistake is this? Who was the responsible party? She yelled I guess it's mine and then proceeded to tell me how many employee's she has to take care of. I also wrote a letter regarding this matter to the owner of the company. It was not a nasty letter, just a letter stating what happened. Never did I hear a word from him. Which I thought was kind of ignorant. I not only had to deal with the loss of my son but all this mess too. I will be contacting an attorney. Thanks again for the info. |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago Hi, I'm Linda the one who's son didn't sign a beneficiary form. Let me explain this beneficiary Designation form to you. It's the worst ever. In the Left upper corner it said MetLife. My son's SS# and my name as beneficiary. His father as contingent. This is all in my son's hand writing. It goes down to talk about unborn children, common disaster, Trust(ee). Then it said I reserve the right to change the designated beneficiary(Ies) at any time without (his/her/their) consent. (please Print)Then there are lines asking of name of insured or owner, Phone, address Branch or plant. Then in very small print at the bottom of the page, with no lines it ask for signature of insured or owner and Date. Everyone that looked at this felt like I did, they only wanted your name and signature if you were changing the beneficiary. That's how we read it and I'm sure my son read it the way. And this is the only paper that goes to this. Nothing else. I made his place of employment fax all paper work to me.What do you think? |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago Hey, do you think I could go after the employer for this? |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago I was listed as beneficiary and Met Life has sent no one a check yet. They said they will be sending me papers if I want to contest this. |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago I forgot to ask, is his place of employment have any responsibility since this was there place to check it. When I mention to the girl that takes care of this that why wasn't this caught befored filed.. She screamed at me and said I have x amount of employees to take care of.So I made a mistake. She then would not take any calls that I made to her. |
lindathomas42 | 3 yearss ago Should there be some provisions to pay the funeral expenses and to purchase a headstone? If I contest this do you think I have a chance of recovering this? They told me at met Life that if I contest it will go to there attorney's to make a decision. Another insurance Co. told me If I don't agree with their decision I can probably then let the courts decide this. Is this true or not? I asked the children to sign a paper and have it notorized so that the check would come to me. I told them after the funeral expenses and headstone was bought that I would then send them the remainder of the money to them. They agreed to this until the mother (X-Wife) got involved. When they received the paper from the attorney they then got in touch with Met-Life. They so much as told me they weren't paying for the funeral expenses. What do you think I should do? |
