Please could someone help me. I am in the uk and want some help. Due to reasons I don't want to go into my father stopped seeing me when I was 14 years old. Recently I found out that he had died 2 years ago, so the solicitors have now given everything to me to sort out as it all seemed straight forward. My problem being is that he has a life insurance policy and he has left the benefits to one of his friends!!!
This friend was not a very nice person and they fell out years ago, and then 4 years ago he was sent to prison for murder (that sums his friend up really) I feel that I can't stand by and let this evil piece of nothing get my fathers money, when I am left to pay all bills and funeral expenses.

Can anyone give me some sound advice. I thank you in advance.

Although I am not familiar with laws in the UK, there is great similarity between your laws and those in the US. You are unlikely able to contest anything with regard to the beneficiary designation. Perhaps a person who is incarcerated can be disqualified from receiving the benefits. Your solicitor (we call them attorneys here) should be able to tell you that.

You are paying for legal advice -- ask for it.

If you work with a lawyer, you can probably find a way to get coverage for the funeral costs. However, the wishes that are written by your father will usually stand over circumstances that are presently surrounding the situation. Sorry to hear about the difficulties you are facing.
