If you have the company names just google them and call them. If you have no luck because the companies are no longer in business, you can go to findyourpolicy[dot]com and they can assist you with finding the numbers.

Hi Turquoise,
- When you know the companies you are required to call at the insurers' offices. They may ask you some information for the purpose of identification, and may disclose the information accordingly.
- You must be having the contact information of your agent. You should enquire with him as well. In fact, the insurance agent is the best source of locating the missing policies.
- Taking the help of the professionals also seems to be a good idea.
- Your check book may help you in identifying the lost policies, you might have paid the premiums through checks.
- Enquiring with your employer is another option, if any of your policy is through the employer, they may have the details about it.

In the spirit of combat and not to be combative...
There have been many posts regarding where to find someone's insurance policies and I'll say it again...that type of information is PRIVATE and there isn't any internet or central data base for someone to find out that type of information.
There have been links to the MIB which is great except you have to be dead BEFORE they will release information and then only to a very narrow select few persons who would have a legitimate reason to find the policy.
The site above...

...cannot help you find policy numbers unless the person registered their policies with them and paid a $24.95 annual fee.
People don't die in a vacuum or just disappear without a trace.
The deceased person used to live somewhere and was paying premiums to some insurance company somewhere and even if the policy was fully paid-up the insurance company would still send an annual statement.
Somewhere in the deceased person's papers would be the policy or a receipt or prior year's statement with the company name and the policy number provided.
I can assure you that human nature dictates a thorough review by family members who may have any remote inkling there may be money involved with their name on it.
OP can contact his insurance agent or the company directly and request a duplicate policy be issued. _________________ Gary Spicuzza, *SAFE

Hello Gary,
I would like to correct you on your interpretation of what I wrote. The way I understand the poster, they have the company names but not the phone numbers that go with them. So if they cannot get intouch with the company because they were bought out or merged, FindYourPolicy.com can find the new company that took them over and supply the phone number to them.

The above simply means, if you have a company name and cannot get in contact with them, FindYourPolicy.com offers a service that can give you the Phone Number of the new company that took them over. FindYourPolicy.com only registers Company Names and not policy numbers. And yes it is a database for members information and not a database to find old policies if the insured is not a member. We started this service because there is no place (database) to go if you lose this information.
I hope that this explanation is helpful. |
