How important is it to know our life insurance company ratings while signing up for a plan? Will someone please explain the A.M. Best ratings?

This rating signifies your insurer's financial strength. Once you're covered under a financially strong company, you'll have the peace of knowing that your chances of obtaining a claim under a crisis is better than many others.

The different aspects of your insurance carrier's financial strength are being depicted in it's rating. Best's rating would come for carriers who'd cover for P&C, home owners, auto, health and life. You should opt for a carrier whose rating falls between A - A+.

When an insurance carrier has succeeded in meeting all financial commitments, Best would offer them a C (fair) rating. Likewise, Best's C stands for a good performance on the whole.

Who the hell would buy a life insurance policy from a company with a C rating?
