My wife has decided to stay at home (of late) in order to cater to the needs of our child. Does she need any life insurance coverage anymore? We just don't wish to waste money over little things that may seem unnecessary!

Would you lose your income if you had to stay home and watch the kids if she died? Would you be able to pay the final expenses (such as funeral costs)? Would you have to pay a nanny to watch the kids if you needed to keep working?

I wonder why we'd always ignore the services offered by the stay-at-home parent. Who'll manage our bills? Who'll teach the children in their absence? Life insurance has equal significance for both the parents. Covering both the parents is not a wastage of money. It's for the well being of the family that both of them need to get covered.

If your wife died Friday afternoon, do you think you'd be at work on Monday morning?

Additionally, who says she's just going to drop dead one day? What if it's long and drawn out with lots of medical bills? Is there a way to make sure that all gets paid? Why yes, yes there is.

We don't often count on these harsh realities..it's only when we trudge through such circumstances we do feel the pain!

Let's just add up the costs associated with - daycare, preparing meals, home-cleaning etc. and see how much we'd lose even when we're not counting on our emotional loss.

Some of us would simply count on the worth of the tasks mentioned above and get our at-home spouse covered accordingly. Little do we think of the emotional loss that our little one is gonna suffer if our at-home spouse passes away.

Also, we'd not count on the supposed worth of the working parent's insurance that would be needed to provide for the wages lost, under circumstances when the working parent needs to stay back home following the death of the at-home spouse.
