Chatter in threads

Hello everyone...it has been brought to my attention by a senior member that there is some frustration with all the 'off topic'' chatter in some of our threads...I'm just as guilty as most of getting sucked in to such chatter....I think the main beef is that many of these posts count toward the monthly contest winner and paid posts.

It has been suggested to me that I move those posts to the pub, I could but they wouldn't make any sense in a mixed up thread there either....

Let's, please try and cut some of this random chatter out of the threads especially when it's (WAY) off topic. (I'm not talking about off topic to another area of the original post or about insurance). If you want to stray and talk about another topic then create a new thread...Let's do our best to try hard to stay on topic in the future.

As always, I appreciate your kind consideration........

lori

Yep come on down for chili, and potatoe soup, there's a good 20 plus pounds of each. I always feed everyone real food before the kids sugar up on halloween, i don't even know what I'm dressing up as yet! Will make all the cupcakes and other stuff in the mornin' maybe figure out my costume then....I'm about to head off to bed! I'm a tired old woman tonight..forgot to mention the kids (and I suspect the dog) got into some of the halloween candy while Nana had her back turned...so not only did everyone explode but they were amped up to boot!

Thanks Lori for highlighting this issue, over the last couple of months chattering and off topic discussion has increased over the board. Well, I'm not saying that we should stop this entirely because it'll also restrict the participation of people who are not insurance professionals, but we should definitely take the steps to curtail it as much as possible.

The Pub section is always available for such venting ;)

I'm expecting lakemen to drop in to this thread. We all are eager to know about his view as well.

I have gone through all of your invaluable comments regarding the recent proceedings at AmPm-Marathon-

Let's do our best to try hard to stay on topic in the future.

I would sincerely urge everyone to adhere to the forum guidelines.

I personally think the winner of the monthly Marathon should be judged by the membership. At present, the only requirement to win is the number of posts, but maybe it should be the number of "quality", "informative" posts.

This is a great suggestion I must say. I have been receiving emails and private messages conveying the views of our valued members regarding the "quality" of forum posts that are being considered for AmPm-Marathon.

A review of the last month's forum-postings have finally proven that a considerable number of posts are not meeting our compliance guidelines and are not up to our quality standards as well.

I have consulted with our panel of experts and conveyed our views in order to give them an opportunity to develop a concrete support-system that establishes transparency of our judgment.

Regards,
Lakemen
