Is it true that more and more insurance companies are NOT covering in Texas? Where can I get more information about this?

That is not really a problem here in Texas right now. Years ago, when the "mold issue" first came up this was definitely a problem. But that was quite some time ago. Many companies are now writing competitive homeowners insurance in Texas. The exception would be along the coast where hurricane risk is great. But, if youre not on the coast, you should be fine.

I remember the mold issues very well. I talked to an old friend of mine that says, her policy was canceled and when she called to get it renewed the company didn't seem to want her business...

Yeah, that was a crazy time. We had major carriers pulling out of the state, moritoriums on new business and even had one carrier taken over by the Dept of Insurance. Fortunately, things have been stable for a while now.

Texas homeowners are still feeling the effects of the mold issue previously mentioned. To avoid those sort of claims from happening again, many insurance companies ceased writing HO-B policies and went to HO-A policies. HO-B’s offer more coverage.

Some companies are still writing the HOB with a total mold exclusion, but not many. For a while, companies went to the HOA Plus or HOA enhanced policy form. But, now most companies have gone to the ISO forms and are writing some version of the HO3 or even a company specific form. There are a lot of different coverage types available now.
