Disapproval for renters insurance

by sdchargersfan » Fri Jun 04, 2010 06:19 pm

I just moved into a Mobile home....renting it. My Insurance company said they could no longer give out 'rental insurance' on Molbile homes. What's the difference if it's a home, a apt, etc.? Just wondering..I guess.

I guess I'm just curious why some Insurance Co's will take the risk and others will not. I DO know a few carriers, in my area (now) that WILL take that risk. Kinda crazy, I suppose.

Every company is a little different. They have certain types of coverage that they believe will be the most profitable to them. Some companies wont insure mobile homes because they believe they are a "higher risk." For other companies that is there niche and what they are looking to insure.

Google "mobile home insurance" and you should find several companies happy to insure you.

Thanks for the info. Are you 'new' on the site, INSURANCE DUDE?? However, I haven't been on here in a while. I've been calling other comapnies, in my area. ..I've called a 'hand-full'. About half of the ones I've called, won't take the risk. Thanks, again, for the number.

Yeah, I'm new on the site. A couple months. But not new to the industry. Over 20 years in the business, so I have run into a lot of different situations over the years.
