For the last week, I have been in my in law car because my car is in the shop. I was recently pulled over for speeding 10 over the limit, but the shocker came when I was told the tags was suspended. When I called my in law, she had no idea that her tags was suspended. Now, I have to go to court for the suspended tags because technically I was responsible for the vehicle, even though the car is not mine. I was told I may get my license suspended because of the suspended tags is this true and if so what can I do to prevent this from happening. I work an hour away and definitely need to get to work. I live in GA by the way.

I had a similar thing happen with a friends boat trailer except that he just forgot to put the new decals on he tag.

My recommendation is to have you in-laws correct the tags before you go to court. Go into court and explain what happen and show the judge that the tags were taken care of. I'm betting the judge will do as little as possible against you. Dress nice (don't wear a hat, sunglasses, jean, shorts, etc.). Let the judge know that you accept full responsibility as required by law but that you could not have known that the tags were suspended otherwise you would not have used the vehicle.

Police officers are not always experts in the laws they enforce. It is truly doubtful that you bear any responsibility for the vehicle's lack of registration. Your speeding violation is a different matter altogether.
