Insurance for possessions

I have some very expensive stuff in my possession which also includes a laptop. I am a student and because I have to intern at firms all throughout the country, I have to continuously move around. I had purchased HO4 once when I was renting a place for more than 3 months in Chicago to cover my belongings. Do I have any other cheap short term insurance options?

You need to speak to your agent. You may want to review what the limits are on your personal property with your agent. That is, certain items may have lower limits.

You could cover most of your personal property, especially that which is used in an occupation or trade, with an Inland Marine Policy. Any experienced P&C agent/broker can obtain this for you. You will determine the limits of your coverage per loss and/or per item, if there are items of extraordinary value.

About the best protection against your laptop "growing legs and walking away" is a Kensington lock. $20 is well worth the inconvenience of having to replace a laptop,
