Lightening damage

A lightning struck my house a couple of nights ago and destroyed a lot of stuff including some kitchen appliances, the desktop, my laptop and our widescreen TV. I called my agent and he said that all of my equipment would replace with “similar” products. Now the problem is that my desktop was equipped with an Linksys router which I specifically need for my work. It’s a very old piece of equipment and is integral to my work. Will my insurance company find me the exact replacement?

In such a case the insurance company will replace all the equipment that has been damaged by the lightning. As for the router, they will replace it with a model with specifications ‘nearest’ to the one that was damaged. It most likely won’t be the same thing as you mention that its very old. The insurers will get you something which is currently available in the market.
