We were out on a vacation when the burglary took place. Didn't find anything more than television and some petty valuables. Now I cant decide whether or not to file a claim, since I'll have to pay for the deductible. Will my charges go up as well ?

You o not pay the deductible, it is deducted from the gross loss (ACV or RC) depending on your coverge. Depending on your prior loss history it could very well increase your premium.

Filing a claim can increase the insurance premium. So, it's better you first calculate the financial loss and then decide whether or not it would be wise to file the claim.

If you can afford to replace the few missing items with your own funds, feel free. If the total loss is not more than the deductible, you have a dilemma.

One claim will probably not alter your premium. Two or more claims within a short period of time (2-5 years) usually results in an increase in your deductible before an increase in your premium (but it is, in effect, a substandard rating, and you are paying the same premium for less coverage).

But every insurance company is different, and there is no single answer to the question.
