Depreciation on roof replacement.

I made a claim with allstate on my 15 yr old roof. I received the first check, but not the recoverable depreciation yet. Before they send that 2nd check, they want my contractor's invoice to see the actual cost of repair. Do i need to show that to allstate, or will photos or a contractor statement of work (without numbers) suffice to show that work is completed?

Since it's Allstate and the adjuster making the decision, why not call the adjuster and ask? In the end, it comes down to that adjusters decision.

yeah, tcope is right. Why don't you ask the adjuster directly?

But I fear, since they have asked for it, you may have to.

Until you have the work done, you are not entitled to more than you have been paid. You will probably NOT get the recoverable depreciation without an invoice . . . it's called proof of loss. But who knows, you might have an Allstate adjuster with a warm heart.

Better you should contact your Adjuster directly this is the only way to solve all of your doubts..

So Allstate paid you , you got roof done for less yet still want all money in order to cover your deductible right? Seems like if carrier paid you $5,000 less depreciation (2,500) and deductible ($500)=$2,000 and you had roof done for $3,000 they owe you $500 right?

On the estimate for our roof replacement the depreciation amount was deducted from the roofers materials cost. Does this mean that the contractor recoups the recoverable depreciation amount or does the home owner?

The owner is paid. The home owner owes the contractor for the full cost of repairs. So the money goes to the home owner but then home owner then pays the contractor that money.
