Does homeowners insurance cover air conditioner?

Since this Monday I’ve been observing some malfunction in my AC. It sounds too much. Just wondering if my homeowners insurance would cover for any damages it brings. Thanks in advance.

Depends on _why_ it's not working correctly. Wear and tear is not covered. The AC needs to have been damaged by a covered peril.

In most cases no. As state above, if it is due to wear and tear or even faulty workmanship of the product no. If you are looking for a policy to cover failures, look at a home warranty.

It is rare but I have seen homeowners insurance policies that include coverage for mechanical breakdown. If you are lucky enough to have that coverage in your policy you may want to review the language as you may have coverage.

Maybe a home warranty policy, but not homeowner's insurance. Two very different contracts.

not speaking of a 'home warranty', look up mechanical breakdown coverage. It does exist, more common to see on commercial policies but I have seen it on a homeowners policy in florida. It was a co-workers mother, pool pump went out and her 'homeowners policy' actually covered it. That was the first and only time I have seen this in a policy but I assure you it was in her homeowners policy. I would not have believed it if I did not see it with my own eyes.

It may be state specific on Mechanical Breakdown coverage.
