Traffic acident with learner's permit in friend's car

I was driving my friend's car on learner permit and had a collision. My friend also has learners permit. It happened in PA. I have a 6 year old valid Indian Foreign license which made me eligible to drive for 1 year after coming to PA but that 1 year has passed. But my wife who was sitting beside me came for the 2nd time to USA on May 2015 and she holds a valid foreign license from India. In the Ticket that I got from Police, it says unlicensed driver, but after researching on the net & since I also believe I was not doing anything wrong, I saw I might be eligible. I was mentioning about the foreign license but was silenced without clarification, now that I came back home, I am worried. Please advise
