Do I have to keep getting shots that barely worked?

I got the first of 3 stellate ganglion shots today. My hopes are all but dashed out. I barely felt any relief. They say I should feel relief (if they work for me,each person is different) almost immediately. Problem is I don't believe it worked. I can only see a little difference not enough to go through what I did and now I have the worst headache of my life. Question is they told me at the Doc's office that I would have to have a series of three before they could try anything else...this is demanded by the auto insurance company. If the first don't work well chances are neither will the second so why do I have to go through this two more times? Why would the insurance company want to waste the money on something that doesn't work, not to mention the fact it will eat up what monies I have available to me for med. care?

I will tell you that my aunt had your same experience however they kept insisting she continue, and she sure was glad she did. She was much better after #2, then after #3, she wouldn't quit talking about it....might be worth one more try....

I don't know that this is 100% correct were I you I would call the rep directly and not only would I ask, but if they said yes, this is true I would demand it be sent to me in writing! I realllllllllllllllllly don't think this is true....

I was wondering if maybe they were just pushing the shots... I scheduled a follow up appointment with the doc on Friday. I am hoping this time the office isn't so full that maybe someone will give me answers. It seems like all the answers I've gotten since going there have been from myself spending the time looking it up on the net. Your aunt inspires me...maybe this is worth one more try. I keep trying not to let my emotional and physical feeling get in the way of my decisions. Maybe I was so excited to think that I would finally have a pain free day that I put my expectations up there too high. Seems like I say this alot but I will Again...Thanks Lori.

It's hard to find the perfect combo of being hopeful but not setting our expectation too high, and on the other side, not maintaining a 'half full' cup....it's great that you recognize this though!

Hanging in there. At least the headache is easing a bit.
