My daughter is the driver of the car and all the paper work has my sign. first on everything and her sign. second. How can I cover myself legally if she gets in a accident or let someone else drive the car unknown to me ? She has moved out the home and the regst, insurance, title etc shows me as prime owner. How can I get some kind of legal aggreement making her pay all cost if anything happens, besides having the car repo and having negative credit ?

I would take/remove my name from the title...when our kids got their vehicles they were in their names ONLY with t.o.d. to their father and I...thus eliminating us as 'owners' at all...you can do this by signing it over to her (on the back of the title) or better yet both of you go to the DMV with the title they will help you fill it out send it into your state then it will come back with her name only..

Unfortunately her signing a statement absolving you from liability won't cut it...if you are still a registered owner...

Then...if I choose to sign on the back of the title & relieve myself from the ownership, would the responsibilities fall on her till the point of time she gets informed about it? Assume she had ran away with my car..n is in no touch with me presently! barbados_miller

(first I'm so sorry, mama to mama, I'm sure she will come to her senses...you are in my prayers)....I think you should take the title and go to the DMV TODAY...and tell them she did NOT steal the car, but has moved away with it, and you want to get your name off the title, or reliqueish all ownership...you want her to be the ONLY and SOLE owner of that vehicle....they should mearly show you where to sign, send it in to the state and it will come back with her name only (leave your name as TOD only)....Is the ins paid up on the car? Are you a listed owner on the insurance? I ask well, wouldn't be a bad idea to keep that policy paid up for her till she regains her senses...also should let them know that it's her vehicle.....please do let me know if there is anything else we can help you with....(feel free to ''pm'' me if you'd like)...
