Travel insurance really necessary?

I am visiting Ireland this May for some official purposes. It’d take just a week. I already have my tickets. I was wondering if travel insurance is really required. The several trips I made outside the US in past were all covered. But recently I read in a travel magazine that it is not at all necessary. What should I do?

It’s something, which only you can decide. Never mind but travel magazines are there to only promote the travel industry and nothing else. You seem a bit casual and relaxed since nothing unfortunate happened during your past trips.

However, if you purchase one, you are covered if

1) Any travel arrangements go wrong and you lose money due to that.
2) You face any sort of injuries and seek medical assistance.
3) All your luggage gets stolen.
4) You face a serious medical support or surgery.
