Currently an independent auto appraiser. Interested in getting an adjusters license. I would like to know the difference between P&C and All Lines licenses? What the one offers that the other doesn't

Well P&C is Property and Casualty only, multiline, will pick up everything...(for the most part) honestly the terms are use together a lot....if an adjuster works, auto, homeowners, (and all the coverages associated with those policys) they may be called a multiline adjuster..which I supposed technically isn't correct...a P&C adjuster would not work (for instance) work comp, or life claims...as far as what one offers the other doesn't well not a whole lot, IMO other than you'd be more marketable of course the greater the variety of claims you could work.

An all line adjuster's license will offer you more job opportunities since your line of operation will cover wide range of insurances starting from life, health and auto.

The P&C adjuster will work into the field of property and casualties comprising auto, home, business and such.

However, you're first required to obtain the license to perform as an adjuster in the state and is required to pass the examination set for this purpose. However, you can also check out the list of ‘exemption from exams', if you qualify under any of the categories mentioned in the list, you can then obtain the license without appearing for the exam as well.

Juanita

In the property and casualty line as well you're getting the opportunity to work on different forms property insurances. The marketability, what lori has spoken about, matters at the initial stage of the career , but if you can prove your worth you can also generate substantial amount of income working in P&C line as well. I also know of adjusters, who have chosen to specialize in only one form of insurance, but have never experienced unemployment. I guess Lori will also agree with me :)

Your id says "TexasAppraiser" so i believe you must be in Texas.

I've worked with getting these courses approved for providers so let me tell you that credits for both P&C and All Lines Adjuster License can be earned online for a much lower price. You can get your license by taking the online exam with certain approved providers.

As the name suggests, P&C Adjuster Licensing is mostly related only property & casualty adjusting and a 40 hour P & C Adjuster License course should be completed to take the online exam. If you score 70% or more on the multiple choice format online exam followed by the course, you will get a certificate of completion from the provider. You do not need to take the state exam if you take the online exam. Just report your credits and your license will be issued to you by the Texas Department of Insurance.

The All Lines Adjuster License can apply to all kinds of adjusting that includes Texas Standard Fire Policy (TSFP), HO A/B/C Renters/Condo, Commercial Lines coverage, Inland and Ocean Marine, Surety Bonds, as well as additional coverages for today’s busy professionals. The part of the All Lines course that covers P & C is pretty much the same. However, the All Lines adjuster license course covers all the topics specific to all lines adjusting, mentioned above. You can take an online all lines adjuster license course to get your license and skip the state exam. The online courses usually includes the approved exam taken online by the provider.

However, the exam is not easy so stay focused on getting as much practice as possible. Study the exam requirements and understand how much importance you need to give to each topic as each topic may cover a certain percentage of total questions. The exam is again, a multiple choice format where you will have four options to select the correct answer from.

Get guidance. I know this provider that offers instructor help and counseling through phone while you take the course. A lot of people who don't pass end up losing the money they invested in taking the course. talking to an experienced instructor helps in staying focused and addressing your concerns one on one. PM me if you need more information.

You cannot do that. All license exams are administered by the state. They are given in locations operated by the state or contracted with third parties who give "proctored" exams -- no open book, no cheating.
