Hola, its a great community to stumble upon. You guys are great with suggestions :D

Well, my question is that I'm really interested in becoming an insurance adjuster, but don't know how to approach. Currently I'm pursuing a graduate course in nutrition and dietaries. Can I become an adjuster by continuing my studies in this line? or, are there special courses that I need to study to become an adjuster?

All helps are welcome :) Tx,

Sabrina

You have to have no other options and someone needs to trick you into becoming one. :)
If you want to know how to become an insurance adjuster you must first look for the state requirements.

As your state requires a license to adjust claims, you could see about testing and obtain one. If you had a license you should not have any problem finding a job. Otherwise, insurance companies look for people with good people/customer service skills. You would need to show them that you are _very_ organized, are able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time and work well under pressure.

Hence, if you believe that you have the ability to handle tough situations like that and have good communication skills, you can consider the career of an adjuster. Also remember that you may have to work for odd hours and also under odd circumstances. These are the facts about becoming an insurance adjuster in any state.

That's incorrect. Almost all states require candidates to pass a licensing exam. In some states the educational course is mandatory, but may be waived in some jurisdictions if a person has 1-2 years of insurance company experience handling claims.

Many companies promote from within. So you would want to start anywhere in the insurance company. Customer Services, Mail Room, etc. Cream rises to the surface, and so do personnel. Do a great job -- whatever it is you are doing -- and you will be noticed and promoted to positions of greater responsibility.
