Are you just interested to know about insurance for academic purpose or you want to pursue a career in insurance? The answer to this question would determine the classes you would need.

What are your areas of interest and objectives in this field?
Do you have any idea of how this industry works?

Although many classes may touch on insurance, if you are looking for a career in insurance...you may want to go to a school that actually has insurance as a major. Some business schools have insurance as a minor, but not as many have it as a major. You could also major in finance, business management, or marketing.

A lot of what you learn about insurance can be done through self-study and through pre-licensing courses. Finance classes will help you learn some about the annuities and investments side. The business management major could really provide you with classes that could help you in building a business, as would the marketing classes.

It also depends on if you want to build a career in insurance that doesn't have anything to do with sales. You may want to study accounting, etc for other careers within the insurance industry.
