I guess not. GIC is one of the biggest player in the Indian insurance market. And possibly the country's only reinsurance company. I know about it as I'd been to India in an exchange-student program.
However, regarding the Takaful policy, I'm afraid, I won't be of much help. The only thing that i can tell you that its the Islamic way of insurance. And is popular in countries like-Bangladesh, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and such. Hope it helps.
