would like to know how

would like to know how one can go about retreaving money that is being held by the state of Missouri.

This money was from an auto accident in which the insurance co. claimed to have sent said check to my sons attorney, who claims, he said that he didnot send such to the state. My son found out by what he told me, that information was relayed to him by insurnce co.

The car is still unpaid for and understandbly the fianance co. would like to recover this money also. Problem being the state of Missouri will not release the money. IT seems the insurance co. wants my son to retrieve the money. The state sent my son forms
for all three parties, being my son, attorney,fia.co. TO MY SONS KNOWLEDGE, THERE HAS BEEN NO RESOLVE TO THIS MATTER.

My son has though had his wages garnished (sp) for medical bills from this accident, he would really like this matter resolved, sadly he will probbly never be able to recover any of his garnished wages back.

WOULD MOST SINCERLY LIKE ANY
ADVICE ON THIS MATTER.

THANK YOU. RICHARD BAUGHN

I don't understand how or why the state has the money? Money for what? The settlement of his claim(s)? How did the state get involved in this at all?

A company cannot keep money that is owed to a person so they turn it over to the state until its claimed. The person can either claim is directly from the state or they can contact the company to claim it. When I worked at USAA I worked part time nights at Metropolitan at the same time. I guess when I left they did not give me my last paycheck. For whatever reason the boneheads sent it to the state instead (they are suppose to do this only of they cannot get the money to the person). There are many websites that can be used to search for this "owed" money.

Thanks Todd...it didn't occur to me it was that 'kind' of money...a p&c carrier would send that money to the state? in a liability claim?

No company can keep money that they know they owe. I don't know if they actually have to give it to the state but it's either that or they have to at least report it. For a P&C carrier it would be any money they owed, claims, premiums, etc.

Search and see if anyone owes you money/property:
