More Than a Band-Aid for Health Care Reform, Single-Payer is

by Rupert W Bradson » Fri Feb 13, 2009 09:48 am

As the global economic crisis deepens, our broken health care system continues to neglect an increasing number of uninsured Americans, which will top 50 million this year. Tens of millions more who have health insurance still cannot afford the care they need. The resulting illness from inadequate health coverage will lead to missed days of work and lost jobs, making it harder for us to recover from the recession.

Do you think that the single payer system is the solution to this problem? IMO the single payer system would increase dependency on bureaucracy for healthcare services. Please, share your thoughts on this issue. Also what are the changes you would like to see in the reformed healthcare system?

Thanks,
Rupert

Well, the reforms are yet to take the form, so far its only on the paper & so much of discussions are going around about it. I'd only say one thing that healthcare costs should be brought down to the reach of average Americans, who can't afford expensive treatments neither qualify for the health insurance policies.

Federal law does not recognize same-sex mreaiagrs, it is a state issue currently.Same-sex couples will need to file as unmarried persons for federal tax purposes, and as married for state tax purposes (if they live in a state that recognizes same-sex mreaiagrs). This means that same-sex couples will need to file either three or four tax returns: two single federal returns plus a joint state return; or two single federal returns plus two separate state returns.Patients at nearly every hospital in the country will now be allowed to decide who has visitation rights and who can make medical decisions on their behalf regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or family makeup under new federal regulations that took effect in January 2011.Certain insurance carriers allow for same-sex couples to include their spouse on the policy under Domestic Partnership section. Unmarried straight couples can also use this provision. +6Was this answer helpful?
