Wow Fred, only 20% ''thought'' about switching after a loss/repair? I'm surprised it's that low! Shoot 20% of the claims I work (easily) have portions of the repair that have to be denied, (I'm sure you are equally familar with the ''It wasn't that way before the wreck'' Rolling Eyes )...so I'd have bet on a higher number..frankly I'm encouraged by that number...

Well my company atleast did make the happy list, and not the 'bad' list..that's a shocker.....and good to know...

these lists are just about as valid or important as Gary's (sorry bud, ya' know I love ya' Wink )...my point being depending on what your critera is you can make just about any list come out any way you want...

And I total agree, that biggest does not equal best...and yes you should find what works for you...and fire, no way I'd have ins with an agent I didn't like or trust....period......

Iam a 19yr veteran of the insurance industry as a Agency Owner. I think you are out of your mind choosing insurance based on price and company size. The Agent makes the difference. I have never had a customer unhappy in a clam. I want allow it. The companies know it and so does my clients. Pick an Agent not a company my God. Is it come to where you dont want a relationship just a policy number and low price. If so quite complanning you got what you deserved.

I've handles a lot of claims and I would say that I've probably only spoke to an agent on 2% of them. When it comes to price and handling of claims, the agent has almost no input. Sorry, it's just a fact. While some coverage needs are complex and an agent is the only way to go, many people's needs are simple (PAP with 50/25/10 coverage, etc) and they just need a low price.

Question... when you sell a PAP or HO policy, do you sit down and explain all the different changes in coverage that each policy from the different carriers? If you do, you'd be the 1st and only agent to do this. Truth is, probably 99.999% of the agents out there don't have any idea of how the policies from different carriers differ from each other.

There certainly are exceptions to this statement.

There's a reason why these big companies are on the top of both the worst and best list, as discussed on another thread. Big Companies = More Customers

Frankly, someone with a denied claim is always going to be unhappy. And as an agent, you really don't have much control over it. Sure you may be able to sway a carrier on a claim that suspect which makes your client happy, but what do you do on an out right denial.
