Roddrick what do you mean 'elsewhere'? Like in another thread maybe?

I was pointing out to those threads which got shifted to other forums within the community..but then again Lori, I thank you for a fine explanation!

Since its going on for quite sometime now, Sdchargersfan is complaining about her posts getting deleted, its time that we clear our stand in this regard. Lakemen, hope that you would soon be around to clarify it to the community. I’d only present my personal opinion on this issue.

I’ve been associated with this community for quite some times now and like the others have only the best interest of this site in mind. The objective of this site is to help out people who are in trouble. Yes, extending sympathy would definitely ease out one’s mind, but at the same time we are depriving that person of the information he has sought. If we can’t supply the required help to that individual we are earning one unsatisfied visitor/member. We need to keep the objective of this board in mind when replying to the threads.

It has been observed that few members are taking the opportunity and diluting the subject matter with their casual posts. Let me touch upon few points,

  • A casual post isn’t adding to the value of the discussion

  • Repetitive information is also not adding to it.

  • There is no harm in presenting a view but it should be backed with evidences.

The posters take time to go through the responses made by the members and casual posts would only add to their dissatisfaction. The members shouldn’t post with the motive to increase their number of posts but with the true intention to help.

Again, this is being done for the betterment of the community and not to single-out anyone. All the members of this site are equally valuable to us, but they should also abide by the Terms and Conditions set by the admin.

Hope to get your support in this regard.

Regards,

Juanita

People,... SD'... and others...

A deleted post is a badge of honor!

It means we got to them.....the mods.

A deleted post stuck in their crawl and violated something therefore they had to use their mod POWER to quash your literary masterpiece.

They do it to me ALL THE TIME!

Pfffffffffffffffffffttt!

Just remember you're in their house, they set the rules.

Our job is not to question mod authority, it's to see how far we can push them to the edge before they use the nuclear option and blow your post to Internet hell!

Oh Dave, that hurt my head! Laughing care to translate?

I don't think for one second that you are milicously posting...(with the intent to generate revenue)...Not sure exactly what you mean by giving them options and those posts are deleted...I would hazard a guess that those posts either did not add content, or repeated prior posts? Is that possible? If so then there is the reason...

When I spoke with the lakemen he said there had been complaints no only from members but from new OP's as well, re: the dilution of the threads or not getting the information they came here for...again this meant only to benefit the site as a whole...and I'm sure that is what everyone wants, and why we contribute, and spend our time here...to help those that need help (including ourselves)...

Oh Gary, always a pleasure.. Rolling Eyes

Hi All,

There's not much left to clarify after Lori has shared her views over here and I truly thank everyone for holding on to their patience.

I have only one thing in mind..and there won't be a better opportunity to share it with you-

See, when a community grows it needs to gather every bit of its strength (over here its knowledge..)...then it needs to be nourished (I mean the struggle..)...after it covers a distance its the time to look back and measure if its heading in the right direction..the outcome is often unexpected...it would reveal much of the glory that's been earned out of prolonged sacrifices. At the same time it helps us count upon those who have contributed to this hard earned growth and that to what extent...who all have left and who all are still with us...we could thus get a fair idea of where we stand exactly as a 'community member' and what we've gained out of it!

Now, lets check out some of the comments from our members-

Quote:
...Also it does distract from the thread, and adds nothing to the content.

Could not agree more on this. We as human beings would love to show respect and sympathy as we empathize with each other. But do we get paid for that in this harshly real world? NO, my dear friends. Its time we start analyzing our strength areas and work hand in hand to achieve 'success'.

Quote:
On some of my posts, I amy not be "relaying 'DIRECT' information" to the OP, but, I try to give them advice on what 'options' they can take.

Many of the users had formulated advices recollecting information already presented by others in some way or the other - they got their posts deleted.

This is an insurance forum aimed at helping the consumer to better understand and appreciate this business.

Certainly! It is for the betterment of the community and to make our platform more credible that we should act professionally! A little bit of research from each one of us might help our visitors and add to our knowledge and benefits.

Let me clarify-

Quote:
Any forum post(s) that are considered to be aimless and intended to generate income only would not be entertained in our forums.

Certain sympathetic posts have been made by our members in between their own meaningful and informative posts. Such posts have not been deleted.

Quote:
Forum posts that are irrelevant to a particular thread or bears repetitive information would not be considered for payments and may be removed by our moderators. Similarly, any comments made to such irrelevant posts would not be considered for payments and may be removed.

If a forum comment or a moderation move hurts a member, it would be his responsibility to inform the administrator or a moderator regarding such moves through private messages. Posts bearing their complaints in that very thread would spoil the theme of the discussion and should be considered 'irrelevant'. Alternatively they could start a separate thread regarding their problem in the Pub.

Let me also inform you-

All moderators are now handling the forums as per the guidelines mentioned in our Terms of use. I'd request all our latest members to go through it and keep the great work going!

Regards,

Lakemen

Well Lori, I was hoping to make you spit out some coffee, but I guess I'll have to settle for "hurting your head". Just kidding, I hope you are well.

I read a lot more here than I post, and I understand the frustration that folks have with the "someone will be along shortly to help" posts. When you know who the ones are who regularly do it you just pass them by. Please don't forget that along with helping people this forum needs to be somewhat entertaining to keep the "helpers" coming back. You gain a lot more respect for the pros when you can see their personalities come through.

There have been a few original posts that I have seen that looked to me like the posters just trying to learn to communicate in english. I didn't think that they would likley be able to find their way back to the thread they had started. It wasn't my intent to be cruel to anyone, I just found it funny like those t-shirts that have sentences that make no sense. JMT

you got that right! and it's really frustrating at time...

Laughing likely, I always hope that even if (any) op doesn't return that there is enough information for someone that 'reads' the threads that is in a similar position...IMO that happens WAY more than people posting or starting new threads with their own problems...

Laughing I can't imagine anyone being offended...and it pretty much sounded like some of our OP's! LaughingLaughing You are so clever DAve, I was trying to figure out the 'code' of your sentence! LaughingLaughing glad to know there wasn't one! Wink

On the subject of pros, there are two that had valuable input and I have not seen them for a while. Life Is Good and Insurance Investigator?

Ya know Dave I was wondering that too. I sent a pm to Life about a month ago and he seemed pretty busy with some other business. I was hoping he would stop back in and post with us. I really enjoyed the humor and good advice he put forth. He is such a down to earth preson who could help you understand something and bring a smile to your face at the same time. I hope he comes back soon.

I don't know about our investigator....likely hunting and choping down giant agents that are of low character, and have it coming! I'll try and send him a note soon...I miss his posts as well.

Investigator will be back.

I just wanted to add my two cents worth concerning the deletion of posts by moderators.

I have seen many, many "copy and paste" articles which are quite lengthy and very difficult to read.

I just don't think these long articles add anything to the conversation when a simple "link" to the material would accomplish the same thing.

Then, if someone had the time to read a 1,000 word article, it could be done at the member's (guest's) convenience.
