I've heard that the Critical illness insurance is good for certain chronic illnesses. I'm yet to find a complete list of things that are covered under it.

I guess it's a different kind of health insurance. It provides a sum of money in the event you get caught up with a listed disease or illness. Such a list should include almost all types of major diseases like Alzheimer's, heart attack etc.

I've a friend who has lost his limb after an accident and his wife had to suffer from speech loss following the shock. They seemed quite thankful to Critical illness insurance and Auto insurance.

It also covers you under circumstances when you get paralyzed or when you get into coma. I feel it's truly useful.

Angioplasty, heart attacks, strokes - it's just good for anything!
I've heard that it even covers you under circumstances that you get blind or become deaf.

Yes but there are a lot of different products out there, some better than others.

It's kind of a compromise between disability insurance and long term care insurance, both would be more comprehensive in their coverages than critical illness. CI, could also act as a supplement to either product. Just be very careful about definitions and what's covered.

I do agree that CI could be a good supplement for DI. But, can we really think of it as a supplement for LTC? I think LTC is quite costly, and so it may not be easy for many of us to have another supplementary coverage with it.

You're correct, I'd say supplement to DI, and a compromise to LTCi. If LTCi is out of the budget, CI might be an ok back up plan.
