Well, I haven't heard of such a thing. I'd heard that the customers would be responsible for any claim payment that falls within the retention.
On the other hand (if they have deductible program), their carrier would be responsible to bear claim payments beyond the deductible, if they turn bankrupt or fail to carry on with their business. So, why would they prefer self-insured retention over a deductible program?
