|
|
| My 22 yr old daughter's car is in my name, financed in my name, insured in my name with her as the driver. How do tickets, moving violations or otherwise (running a red light, address not changed on driver license, registration out-of-date, etc.), affect my insurance premiums? She thinks it doesn't affect me. Help please! |

Hi crg1960
Insurance companies keep a check on your DMV report and all of the tickets or other traffic violations will be considered in determining your premium. And to b honest, these do not have any good effect on your insurance premiums. Your insurer might increase your premiums or even choose to cancel your policy for the same.
Your daughter needs to be more responsible when driving, more so because she is driving your car and her actions will have a drastic effect on your insurance. _________________ AmPmInsure Blog |

Most auto insurance companies will determine the premium off of the highest risk driver. In other words, if there is one car and two drivers - one driver is 30 years old, no tickets or accidents and the other driver is 16 years old with a speeding ticket - the premium will be based on the 16 year old.
The best way to determine the exact cost of your daughter on your policy is to ask your agent. They should be able to give you a quote what the premium would be without your daughter covered. _________________ AnMarie Bozick, CIC

| Your daughter is incorrect, it absolutely affects you. Insurance premiums are based off of everybody covered on the insurance. When I was younger, my father didn't even add me to his insurance. I'm sure it made it cheaper for him, though I wouldn't really suggest doing that with your daughter. |
