My grandson let a friend of his drive my car. The friend crashed into a house then left the scene leaving the car behind. There homeowners insurance is now suing me. (I have plpd). Since the vehicle is in my name but I was not there, driving or gave anyone permission to drive am I still responsible?

How did your grandson manage the keys to your car? Does he share the same household?
You being the car owner ultimately seem to be responsible for causing the loss. It should rather be a moral obligation on his (your grandson's friend) part to pay for your deductible. You could always take him to a small claims court and get things settled.

Sure you can..turn this claim into your auto carrier, if you haven't already...and get the suit papers to them YESTERDAY!

I'm guessing you are not really being sued, rather the home owners carrier is asking you to pay them back. Big difference.

Most states allow the owner to be held responsible for the use of the vehicle. If you allowed your grandson to use the vehicle then you most likely assume responsibility for his actions... including his action of then loaning the vehicle out to another person.
