not at fault in an accident

what can i do if i was in a severe accident, property almost $20,000 in damages and i have injuries but the at fault person has mininum coverage only 25,000

who will pay for my medical bills, time off from work for dr appointments, loss of enjoyment because i am constant pain.. and now i may not be able to have surgery and be in constant pain the rest of my life.. what can i do?

UM wouldn't help anyway you'd have to have UIM (UNDERinsured motorist)...barring that you'll only real choice is to sue the at fault party..you cannot accept the policy limits (for your injury) from that carrier though...if the at fault party has any assets you can attempt to get an excess judgement..you'll need an attorney to do that..who will also take a third (or more) of your settlement..so be SURE you want to pursue that before you hire one...if you hire an attorney, THEN decide to accept that persons policy limits of 25k the atty would get his/her one third slice of that as well.
