Statue of limitations on paying a claim from 6/07

I have just rec. a claim for the doctor bill portion of a medical claim dating back to 6/2007. I was never given this bill before this time and all the other bills for emergency room have been paid. I live in the state of Illinois. I also called the insurance carrier I used at that time and they had never rec. a claim either. She also informed me that after 15 months any bill sent after that will be denied and that a 15 month period is plenty of time to bill an insurance company. Do I have a leg to stand on for this $741.00 that now my insurance company that I no longer use won't even look at or pay?_________________

Would this bill have been covered by your carrier if it was submitted timely? If so, you need to submit it, in writing (the bill along with a letter asking your carrier to pay this bill). They can either pay it, deny that it's owed, or deny coverage to you. If the bill legally does not need to paid, let then determine that and put it in writing to you. If it turns out later on that it is owed, you have a case against your insured for incorrectly not paying it when they should have.

_Don't_ rely on any information from someone in your agents office. I have a suspicion that this is where your's getting this info from.
