can my 23 yr old son who lives with me put in a claim against MY insurance to fix his car after he slid on ice into a ditch?

Do you insure the vehicle under your policy? If the vehicle is not listed on your policy or you were no at fault for the damages, then no your carrier won't pay the claim.

If the vehicle is listed in your policy and your son is a permitted driver then he might as well turn a claim to your insurance company. What state are you from?

Your son can claim against your policy only if the vehicle is listed under your policy and if he is added in your policy.

Only if he is listed as a policy holder. If he is listed as a driver or secondary, you are the only one who can file the claim.
