My son hit a deer on Dec. 6th 2009 in his paid for 2004 Ford Focus it was considered totalled per our insurance company. Both front air bags deployed he was taken to the hospital and thank God he is fine but I am saddened that we only had liability on his car and now he is carless and no money since he used all his saving to by it.He was only able to get $500 from a salvage yard.

There is, it's called collision and or comprehensive coverage.

Impact with an animal is covered under comprehensive coverage. Appears that there was no 1st party coverage taken on the vehicle so no coverage for this loss. That is the trade off for not purchasing this coverage.
