How long should it take to settle an auto claim?

I had an accident about 22 days ago but I didn't have collision coverage and the other insurance company was dishonest about the details and is still keeping me in the dark.

I feel like I'm in the dark as well. Care to mention _any_ details?

What happened?

Was dishonest about what details?

How are they keeping you in the dark?

I mentioned I had an accident about 22days ago. What happened was that my car was hit at an intersection with a four way stop sign I was traveling west and the other car that hit me was traveling north. My car was beyond repair the other insurance company determined that I was traveling at 5 miles per hour when this happened. The adjuster viewed the damage on the 7th of this month. When I called the women from this womans insurance company that was handling the claim she claimed that she was waiting for the adjuster to download the information into the system and before this time she kept telling me that the woman that hit my vehicle would not talk to her. The other day I found out she was lying to me about the information being downloaded into the system. Then they told me they were able to get in touch with the women that hit me on the 11th supposedly she lied and said that I didn't stop at the stop sign when my brother was with me during the accident and was a witness that I did stop at the stop sign. When the accident happened I was making a turn going west after she had hit me she replied that she was looking for a street. By the damage to the two cars I assume they should be able to determine who was at fault my wheel was practically falling off of my Mercury Mountaineer after she hit me. They claim they just took pictures of her vehicle the other day which I found hard to believe since this happened so long ago. It seems like there trying to put some of the liability on me.

Here is what I'm guessing happened...

They needed to speak to their insured before they could make a liability determination. Seems like they had trouble getting their insured to speak to them. Once they spoke to their insured, their insured stated that you did not stop at the stop sign. Your bother is not an independent witness. He's bias and if a related person could be a witness, the person with the most passengers in their vehicle would always be correct.

Some investigations can take time... especially if one person is not telling the truth. This is one reason why people should consider carrying collision coverage under their own policies. Without it, you may need to wait on a liability investigation to be competed.
