Posted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:03 am   Post subject:    Hi wakerascals I am not sure about the % increase in rate but smokers, any day, pose a greater threat to the insurance companies compared to the non-smokers. Hence, if you are a smoker, you will have to pay up a fairly large amount as premiums if you are going to be covered. Smokers have a 90% chance to make a claim due to smoking related illness. Hence, they will definitely be charged more. So more and more auto insurance companies are offering a discount to non-smokers on their insurance premium.
