I was involved in a auto accident which was not my fault. I have received a check from the other driver's insurance company and also one from my insurance company. Neither check is high enough to cover the estimate for repair. Can I cash both checks?

You can... but then your carrier is going to seek recovery against you directly. In other words, don't.

Pick a carrier you want to file with. They will have issued you a payment based on an appraisal. You take that appraisal into the shop of your choice and if they cannot repair the vehicle for that amount, they will contact the carrier that is handling the damages to work every thing out.

That is, the carrier that is handling the damages needs to make sure that their payment is sufficient to repair the vehicle
